OUR PHILOSOPHY

HEALING OF THE MIND, BODY, AND SOUL RESULTS FROM BECOMING A PERSON, VIA RELATIONSHIP.

It’s important to understand a counselor’s philosophy. It shapes how they listen, how they work, and ultimately the kind of change that can happen in therapy.

At Be Human, our philosophy is simple:

people + relationship = the good life.

To be a person is to live in relationship with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us. When those relationships are strained, painful, or confusing, life can feel overwhelming. When they become healthier and more connected, life begins to feel fuller and more meaningful.

Unlike therapists who specialize in only one narrow area, we approach our work as generalists of the human experience. Life rarely presents challenges one at a time. Anxiety, depression, healing, growth, setbacks, and moments of joy often unfold together in everyday life.

Our work happens in those overlapping spaces.

Being generalists means we meet you exactly as you are and work with the full picture of your life. Rather than focusing on a single problem in isolation, we consider the whole person—the experiences, relationships, struggles, and strengths that make you who you are.

Therapy is not about fixing a single part of you. It’s about helping you move toward a more connected, meaningful, and fully human life.

FOR PEOPLE CANNOT LIVE WITH THEMSELVES AS LONG AS THEY CANNOT LIVE WITH OTHERS, AND THEY KNOW THEY CANNOT LIVE WITH OTHERS AS LONG AS THEY CANNOT LIVE WITH THEMSELVES
— Fyodor Dostoevsky
